|Work Hours:||8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.|
Duties: To provide less complex commercial and residential building during various stages of construction and remodeling to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations: interpret building codes for the public, city, staff, contractors, architects, building owners. Answer questions and provide information, recommend corrective action as necessary to resolve complaints. Review construction plans and specifcations to ensure compliance with building laws and codes. Perform other duties as they are assigned.
Qualifications:High School Diploma one year experience performing building inspections or related experience: valid driver's license; possession of or ability to obtain within one year of employment certification as a Building Inspector with ICC.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES:
Within six (6) months from date of employment, must establish residence within the City of Jackson.
PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.
