Duties: Assist in the collection of artifacts and archival materials; catalog and register assessable materials into the museum records utilizing modern methods for classification and preservation. Maintains records of materials transferred to research collections; retrieves manuscript material when requested by the general public. Performs conservation procedures required for the storage and preservation of manuscripts, documents and related materials; Maintain general cleanliness of facility; Exhibit design, measurement methods, material and weight consideration in displays.
Qualifications: Two years of professional archival experience involving manuscript materials, maps, photographs, archival methods of documentation, basic methods of manuscript preservation and cataloging systems.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES:
Within six (6) months from date of employment, must establish residence within the City of Jackson.
PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.
