|Work Hours:||7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.|
Duties: Provide lead supervision over carpentry staff; prioritize and delegate work assignments; provide training to new employees. Install, repair and replace walls, flooring, ceilings and roofing on municipal buildings. Operate hand and power tools including air compressor. Identify needs for each assigned project; pick up and deliver equipment to and from construction sites. Inspect machinery and equipment to ensure proper functioning order; perform minor maintenance on equipment; report major needs to supervisor; ensure safety of equipment.
Qualifications: Perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance, construction and repair work in an assigned area of responsibility. Use and maintenance of variety of tools and equipment used in carpentry work. Knowledge of basic building code requirements. Work independently in the absence of supervision. Two years of journey level experience performing skilled carpentry work. Equivalent to completion of the 12th grade supplemented by specialized training in carpentry. Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid drivers license.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES:
Within six (6) months from date of employment, must establish residence within the City of Jackson.
PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.
