Public Safety Dispatch Supervisor

Specific & General Duties: Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise and review the work of staff responsible for providing emergency dispatching and call screening operations; prepare work schedules and make shift assignment; maintain and update employee records and files. Participate in the selection of dispatch staff; provide or coordinate staff training; evaluate employee performance; work with employee to correct deficiencies; implement police; implement discipline procedures. Recommend and assist in the implementation of emergency communication goals and objectives; establish schedules and methods for providing dispatching operations; implement polices and procedures. Supervise and review operations of the 911, computer aided dispatch system; ensure calls are dispatched following established dispatched following established procedures. Desirable minimum qualifications: Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of making sound decisions under stress and pressure. Knowledge of the polices and procedures of the Police Department and emergency dispatch operation. Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation. Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in emergency communications or a related field. Four years of increasingly responsible emergency communication experience including two years of lead responsibility.
