Maintenance Worker II

|Work Hours:||7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.|
Duties: Methods and techniques or construction, maintenance and repair related to the assigned area of responsibility. Operational characteristics of mechanical equipment and tools used in the assigned area of responsibility. Perform semi-skilled maintenance, construction and repair work in the area of work assigned. Use and operate hand tools, mechanical equipment and power tools and equipment required for the work in a safe and efficient manner. Work independently in the absence of supervision. Work safely with dangerous materials.
Qualifications: One year of experience comparable to that of a Maintenance Work I in the City of Jackson. Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary assigned maintenance staff. Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES:
Within six (6) months from date of employment, must establish residence within the City of Jackson.
PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.
