|Work Hours:||8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.|
Duties: Handle the processing of several commodities, various categories for goods and services from the requisitions received in Purchasing for processing into purchase orders, using the computer, calculator and documents received while applying the State Procurement Laws and City Policies. Maintain a variety of files. Compose correspondence, maintain all documents pertaining to the purchase order prepared. Electronicly prepare purchase orders as assigned form the requisitions. Respond to general procurement questions from various City Personnel. Enter and recover documents on data pertaining to work performed in processing the purchase orders, and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualification: One(1)year of experience in municipal government purchasing. Perform a variety of clerical and basic accounting duties as required; knowledge of general State Procurement Laws concerning purchasing, supplies, and commodities used in Municipal/City Services daily. Basic computer skills, ability to use a calculator and general office equipment. Ability to apply and explain State Procurement Laws and City Policies. Work independently in the absence of manage rand supervisor. Possess a High School Diploma along with training in purchasing preferable in municipal government.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES:
Within six (6) months from date of employment, must establish residence within the City of Jackson.
PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.
