Water Plant Operations Supervisor

|Work Hours:||8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.|
Duties: To supervise, plan, and coordinate the services and operations of the city's Water Plant including the operation and maintenance of two water treatment plants, water treatment plants, water well stations, water tanks, and laboratory; to coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, outside agencies and the general public; and to provide highly responsible and complex staff assistance to the Utilities Manager. To operate and maintain water treatment, well system and water tank machinery and equipment. To manage and coordinate the work of supervisory, technical and clerical personnel. Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities for the water treatment plant; identify resource needs; recommend and implement policies and procedures.
Qualifications: 5 years of increasingly responsible experience in the operation and maintenance of a water treatment plant including 2 years of supervisory or administrative responsibility. Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering, chemistry, biology, or a related field. Possession of a valid Class A Water Works Certificate. Possession of a valid MS driver's license.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES:
Within six (6) months from date of employment, must establish residence within the City of Jackson.
PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.
