Function of the Position:
This Senior Project Manager position is anticipated to oversee the digital and cybersecurity portfolio at DAI’s Center for Digital Acceleration within Global Health Business Unit.
This position provides home office technical, financial, contractual, and management oversight and has decision-making authority for one or more projects. Enables projects to achieve quality programming and development outcomes. When necessary, this position also supports all phases of business development activities. Also, participates in and leads new business initiatives across global health clients.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Manages home office functions for one or more projects. Manages resources across these teams and encourages collaboration within broader business unit. Makes timely decisions; escalates to appropriate decision-maker as needed; keeps senior management informed of key management or technical issues on the projects. May serve as Acting Chief of Party (COP) or Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP). Executes authorities listed in DAI policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and on schedule, and with high client satisfaction. Leads monthly and quarterly reviews, client satisfaction surveys. Monitors day-to-day activity on projects and manages home office support of projects:
Serves as the primary point of contact for the COP and Home Office (HO) staff on technical, management, operational, and financial issues. Responsible for the success of start-up and close-down of his/her projects. Proactively identifies and analyzes areas of risk, advises senior management on solutions and preventative measures. Ensures compliance with internal and external audit findings.
Ensures overall contract compliance with client and DAI rules, regulations and procedures. Resolves complex contractual issues with appropriate escalation and collaboration internally. Interacts directly with clients and partners as needed. Serves as the lead for contractual and budget matters related to subawards and subcontracts.
Works with business unit and corporate financial analysts to ensure delivery of financially sound projects. Accountable for project financial performance targets (in conjunction with the COP). Understands financial structure of contract and monitors accuracy of project budget and ensures periodic estimates to complete are timely and accurate.
Cross Business Unit Support
Provides support as needed and collaborates with colleagues on other business unit initiatives.
Conducts short term technical assistance and backstopping for projects. Works with COP to ensure that contract deliverables are completed and submitted in a timely manner, that project activities are implemented in accordance with the contract scope of work and approved work plan and are of high quality. Identifies, interviews, and approves project STTA and LTTA candidates. Participates and provides support as necessary to the COP and field team during all strategic planning sessions. Manages project extension or modification proposals. Reviews, supports, and edits technical deliverables as needed. Contributes to cross-project learning and technical knowledge sharing. Engages in project level recruitment in support of STTA and LTTA vacancies.
Supervises, trains and coaches project support staff. Ensures COP receives DAI orientation and appropriate training. Encourages learning and knowledge sharing within and across business units. Conducts performance reviews and goal setting meetings for project support staff.
Participates in or leads research, pre-positioning, technical design, and proposal management for multiple new business opportunities per year. Participates in Pink/Red/Lime/Green Team reviews as needed.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as business needs evolve.
Supervisory Requirements: Supervises Project Associates and Associate Project Managers.
