Reports to:                 Senior Manager, Digital Advisory, Center for Digital Acceleration

Function of the Position:

This is a full-time professional position within the Center for Digital Acceleration (CDA). The position can be based in any of DAI’s corporate offices, with overseas travel up to 40% time (as COVID-related travel restrictions ease).  Reporting to the Senior Manager, Digital Advisory, this position will be responsible for providing advisory services, specifically around issues relating to digital trust, misinformation/disinformation, and cybersecurity, across DAI’s international portfolio of development projects. S/he will work directly with projects to develop strategies, design and implement digital activities, train staff on digital hygiene, and identify local partners who can help DAI projects and clients develop these capabilities. S/he will work with the Senior Manager for Digital Advisory and other members of CDA’s management team to identify and expand demand for these services across DAI’s internal and external clients. S/he will work with projects based in the field as well as on corporate initiatives, with a primary focus on supporting digital projects develop digital trust and cybersecurity. S/he will also support knowledge management efforts to capture lessons from digital trust/cybersecurity advisory activities. Where necessary, s/he will support CDA’s new business efforts through research, writing, bid coordination, thought leadership, and conference attendance. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Work with home office staff, field staff, and clients to support activities, including:
    • Developing strategies for field projects to incorporate digital solutions into their work, with a special focus on ensuring high levels of trust and cybersecurity in all efforts
    • Designing, implementing, and supporting digital-focused activities, including trust, misinformation/disinformation, and cybersecurity-focused activities
    • Developing and deploying digital hygiene training materials for project and headquarters’ staff based on global best practices
    • Identifying and engaging local and international partners – technologists, information specialists, IT firms, civil society organizations, technology educators, software developers, etc. -- that can help projects build their digital trust, misinformation/disinformation, and security capabilities
  • Identify and work with partners and subcontractors as needed
  • Collect, document and distribute best practices; document key project information related to DAI’s digital solutions, especially those related to digital trust, misinformation/disinformation, and cybersecurity
  • Research and create relevant content for CDA’s/ DAI’s publications, websites, and blogs
  • Support new business acquisition as needed by writing about digital trust, misinformation/disinformation, and cybersecurity
  • solutions and integrating these capabilities into proposals, working on small and medium proposal efforts, and documenting corporate capabilities
  • Perform project implementation/management tasks including managing consultants, managing sub-contractors, budgets etc.
  • Perform other related responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Grade 8: Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience and a bachelor’s degree or 3 years of relevant professional experience and a master’s degree.
  • Grade 9: Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience and a bachelor’s degree or 5 years of relevant professional experience and a master’s degree.
  • Grade 10 : Minimum of 9 years of relevant professional experience and a bachelor’s degree or 7 years of relevant professional experience and a master’s degreeExcellent communications skills – particularly in writing and relationship-building
  • Knowledge of or experience with:
    • A range of digital hardware and software solutions for development, for instance, mobiles, portals, collaboration and social media tools, apps, open source applications, and geospatial tools, and their application across a range of development sectors (natural resources, health, governance, peacebuilding, agriculture, economic growth, M&E, etc.)
    • Issues relating to digital trust, misinformation/disinformation, and cybersecurity policy, infrastructure, or practice in developing country contexts
  • Ability to meet deadlines, take initiative and accomplish work with minimal supervision
  • Able to travel internationally to all countries in which DAI implements projects up to 40% of the time (as COVID-related travel restrictions ease) 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with digital-focused business development, project design, and/or project implementation in the international development sector
  • Experience working successfully and respectfully in local communities globally
  • Experience working directly with clients and teams in an international context, providing advisory and/or consulting services around topics related to digital development, especially focused on digital trust, misinformation/disinformation and cybersecurity
  • Comfortable independently managing research processes, logistics and local relationships in fast-moving field environments
  • Experience with gathering user requirements, developing project plans and budgets, and writing digital-related reports and marketing materials, especially focused on digital trust, misinformation/disinformation and cybersecurity
  • Knowledge of USAID projects and technical assistance contracting procedures
  • French, Spanish, Russian, or Arabic language preferred
