The Lounge Bartender is responsible for providing guests with courteous, friendly, sincere, efficient and graceful service that meets or exceeds guest expectations as well as the AAA Four Diamond standards.  This position is primarily responsible for the preparation and service of alcoholic beverages and food for the restaurant and lounge patrons.

Essential Duties / Tasks / Responsibilities:

  1. Guest Service – 80%

    1. Ensure high levels of guest satisfaction utilizing the G.U.E.S.T. standards.

    2. Set up bar in a thorough and swift manner.

    3. Promptly and warmly greeting guests upon arrival.

    4. Provide guests with courteous, friendly and efficient table service.

    5. Answer phones using appropriate verbiage.

    6. Possess an excellent ability to explain and sell all menu items.

    7. Presents menu, answers questions, and makes suggestions regarding food and service.

    8. Explain, pair and recommend all Wine list selections

    9. Writes order on check or memorizes it.

    10. Prepare and serve cocktail orders from bar and service bar in a timely manner.

    11. Relays order to kitchen through POS and helps serve courses from kitchen.

    12. Maintains service and sanitation standards according to health code regulations.

    13. Proficiently utilizes the property management systems and follow cash handling procedures

    14. Check guest’s identification and confirm it meets the legal drinking age
    15. Maintain cleanliness of the bar and surrounding areas
    16. Comply with Marriott BSA Standards



  1. Sidework – 20%

    1. Clears and resets tables at the completion of dining.

    2. Maintain the daily operations of the lounge through the execution of daily sidework.

    3. Keeps bar area clean and organized at all times.

    4. Attend all required trainings and department meetings

    5. Par / requisition bar products and supplies to manager daily at the end of the shift.

    6. Assist Barback as needed

    7. Ensure barback duties are completed to standard.

Experience / Education / Certifications:

  1. High School diploma – required
  2. Previous Bartending experience in upscale environment - required
  3. Hospitality or customer service experience – preferred
  4. Tips Certified
  5. Cash Handling Certified

  1. Standing and walking during majority of shift
  2. Regularly required to lift, reach with hands and arms, use fingers (keyboard etc.) to handle or feel.

  4. Working on tiled flooring may be slippery (appropriate footwear required)
  5. Direct contact with guests, managers and employees.

  6. Occasional environmental exposures to cold, heat and water.
