Description

Objective / Purpose / Summary: 

 

This position is primarily responsible for guarding property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry by performing the following duties.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

 

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Qualifications: Education / Certifications / Work/Industry Experience:

 

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

 

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities (KSA’s) & Competencies:

 

  1. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  2. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

  3. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

  4. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software

     

     

    Essential Duties / Responsibilities / Tasks:

     

  5. Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  6. Periodically patrols buildings and grounds.

  7. Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure.

  8. Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles and appropriately responds to persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.

  9. Inspects equipment and machinery to ascertain if tampering has occurred.

  10. Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes and secure doors left unlocked.

  11. Observes departing personnel to guard against theft of company property.

  12. Sounds alarm or notifies law enforcement in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.

  13. Permits authorized persons to enter property as necessary.

  14. Registers at watch stations to record time of inspection trips.

  15. Records data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment, for use of supervisory staff.

     

  16. Monitors and reports any equipment, especially cold storage equipment, that may not be functioning properly.

  17. Regulates traffic and crowd control to maintain orderly flow.

  18. All other tasks/duties assigned by management.

 

Work Environment/Conditions:

 

While performing the duty of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to risk of radiation and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather); working near moving mechanical parts; outdoor weather conditions; extreme cold (non-weather) and extreme heat (non-weather).

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
