The Quality Assurance Contract Manufacturing & Business Support Supervisor oversees the QA Contract Manufacturing and Business Unit Support Group by performing the following duties.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supervises the flow of workload coming into the QA Contract Manufacturing and & Business Unit Support Group.  This includes but is not limited to: interaction and agreement on Master Formulas, Specifications, Documentation Receipt and Availability, review of Master Manufacturing and Batch Production Records and Testing Method Agreements with Contract Manufacturers (CM).  In instances where NOW Foods is the CM, this includes managing NOW site audits and visits, quality agreements and interaction with customer QA and Sales.  Group members also are responsible for following up on quality issues.
  • Supervises personnel who interact directly with the CM and those personnel who interact with customers of which NOW Food’s is the CM (Business Unit Support).
  • Engages and assists in resolving higher level issues that may arise with CM products.
  • As needed, accompanies group member on audits or site visit of CM if necessary and is involved in NOW Food’s audits by customers.
  • Supervises the flow of requests by the International Group; follows up with those assigned the task and ensures timely completion.
  • Ensures QA Contract Manufacturing and Business Unit Support personnel comply with safety and GMP requirements. 
  • Conducts cGMP and on-the-job training of department personnel.
  • Drafts new procedures and/or changes to SOP’s to keep current or improve cGMP status.
  • Ensures that contract manufacturer and private label documents (paper and electronic) are properly classified, controlled, and stored.
  • Complies with safety and GMP requirements.



  • Supports a culture of safe production and operations; follows all safety procedures.
  • Responsible for safety performance in their respective area.
  • Responsible for incident investigations, job hazard analyses, risk assessments, Safety Observations, inspections, training, employee involvement, and enforcement of workplace health and safety policies and requirements.
  • Acts as the primary communicator of safety information in the department.  Encourages employees’ participation in the safety effort.  Fulfills responsibilities as outlined in the company safety management plan.



  • Directly supervises the QA Contract Manufacturing & Business Unit Support group
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; approving time cards.

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four year college and a minimum of five years experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Control, in the food, pharmaceutical, dietary supplement, or medical device industry or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of GMPs required.


  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Strong ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.



  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.



Must have excellent problem solving abilities. 



  • Must have excellent time management, organizational and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have proficiency with Word and Excel.
  • Proven record of managing multiple projects, consensus building, and working with diverse departments required.
  • Must possess strong leadership skills, be a self-starter and be able to handle multiple tasks.
  • Must possess a professional attitude and be able to work well with peers and management.
