The Communications Coordinator is a junior position responsible for supporting the Public Relation Team, Senior Leaders, and clinical and support departments across the organization by creating and editing new content, using words, images, video and other media to develop awareness of West Park and show how the Centre is an integral entity within the health system, helping individuals get their lives back.



  • Public Relations or Journalism certificate/diploma or a minimum 2  years recent related public relations/graphic design experience
  • Healthcare experience preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Skills (particularly Word, Excel and Power Point)
  • Advanced Desktop Publishing skills (Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop)
  • Demonstrated photography, videography, graphic design and print production skills
  • Experience in a Communications, Marketing or Advertising environment preferred
  • Demonstrated spelling, grammar and proof-reading skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to work independently without supervision
  • Ability to prioritize workload within a multi-task environment with multiple demands
  • Evidence of satisfactory attendance record
  • An employee’s disciplinary record will be reviewed as part of the assessment of qualifications
  • Ability to work in a manner that exemplifies the centre’s core values and helps patients get their life back
  • Should be aware of conditions and measures that may affect the safety of patients, residents, students, employees, volunteers, physicians and visitors




  • Seeks out patients, staff, leaders and initiatives to develop stories that advance the awareness of West Park’s brand internally as well as externally, in support of the current capital campaign
  • Develops creative content for West Park’s intranet (The Hub), West Park TV, social media sites, and other publications using text, photos, video, and graphics
  • Drives traffic to content on The Hub through an ongoing strategy that supports employees’ awareness of organizational priorities and initiatives
  • Occasionally assists the Communications Specialist to update
  • Assists with photography and videography in support of departments, key hospital events, initiatives, and milestones
  • Develops graphics and visuals to support key documents and publications for use internally and externally
  • Maintains ongoing media log and prepares daily media reports
  • Assists in ensuring West Park’s brand visual style guidelines are followed throughout Centre
  • Provides support to senior leaders to draft communications materials (ie. letters and memos)
  • Edits content on behalf of clinical teams and departments to align with West Park’s brand voice
