Job Overview: 

The System Administrator is responsible for supervising and maintaining overall system performance and building new systems-based capacity in coordination with the Integrated Digital Services department. The Systems Administrator will develop, administrate and support all information systems (hybrid on-prem / cloud server environment), as well as providing technical assistance and resolving incident tickets with respect to servers, storage, backup, and cloud-based platforms such as Azure to resolve operational problems. This role includes accountability for assisting with incident tickets related to information systems as well as escalated support issues from other IT disciplines.

Accountabilities:

  • Overall systems administration for a mixed Windows / Linux environment
  • Administration, maintenance and development of enterprise technologies and applications including Windows domain and associated services (e.g. AD, DNS, IAM, PKI, etc)
  • Administration and maintenance of highly-available VMWare vSphere environment
  • Responsibility for data integrity and availability of backups
  • Provide knowledge and guidance to various teams and participate in support as an escalation contact developing, designing, deploying, migrating, integrating, and configuring information systems and data center server / storage infrastructure
  • Support and maintain infrastructure monitoring tools, ensuring proper configuration of alerts
  • Drive continuous improvement that improves scalability, visibility, security, and supportability
  • Ensure IT General Controls and standards are applied to WPHC's information systems and network.
  • Creativity and demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of change and ambiguity is critical
  • Identity management administration (Single Sign On)
  • Administer SaaS products such as Office365
  • Strong understanding of information security principles and best practices
  • A passionate and determined team player who builds strong relationships based on trust and integrity
  • A continuous learner who embraces ongoing improvement by proposing new and/or better ways of doing things
  • Ensure the IT environment is highly available, scalable, protected and cost-effective
  • Work with hospital IT (Support, Cybersecurity, and Application) leads to support and maintain systems and networks

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Masters degree in a related field
  • Certifications in network (CCNA) or Firewall (PCNSA)
  • 2-3 Years in the following:
    • Security management skills (Firewalls, Network Access Control)
    • Administration of an enterprise VMWare environment
    • Intermediate understanding of and experience with Linux, Unix, or MacOS in an enterprise environment.
  • 3-5 Years in the following:
    • Experience with healthcare infrastructure technologies
    • Supporting a corporate, technology-based environment with at least  X servers and X workstations
    • Windows server administration (2012/2016/2019)
    • Administration of SQL server
    • Active Directory administration with extensive group policy experience
    • Office 365 administration
    • Some networking background (e.g. understanding of VLANs, Routing, IPSEC)
    • Backup maintenance and disaster recovery
    • Strong understanding of high availability design and experience in a high availability environment
  • Proven attendance record
  • Ability to work in a manner that exemplifies the centre’s core values and helps patients get their life back
