Job Overview:

Reporting to the Vice President of Campus Development the Senior Project Manager, Non-Hospital Development (NHD) will be responsible for the management and oversight of the planning, design development and approval process for the new Long Term Care Home (LTCH) and other non-hospital development initiatives on the West Park campus.

The position will be of interest to a proactive, energetic and well-organized individual with proven organizational and project management skills and recent experience in a major capital project in a hospital setting.  Success in the position requires strong interpersonal, team building and communication skills and a desire to produce timely, relevant results. The individual will be closely integrated with the West Park’s Non-Hospital Development Team and will manage and liaise with the staff/consultants related to their areas of responsibility

Accountabilities:

  • In collaboration with the VP, Campus Development & Support Services, develop the planning process, project scope, design development working drawing preparation, budget and project schedule;  monitor plans and objectives to maintain timelines and project deliverables.
  • In collaboration with the VP, Finance & CFO, develop budget and reports required by the Ministry of Long Term Care related to the project.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations to VP, Campus Development & Support Services regarding project schedule, risk management, and project change management.  Prepare regular reports as required.
  • Lead consultant selection, project tendering and various capital planning processes.
  • Develops Request for Proposals for design services, project consultants and project tendering in compliance with BPSAA requirements.
  • Administers contracts and oversees performance to ensure that consultants and contractors complete on obligations and deliverables.
  • Provide leadership by directing consultants and contractors as needed.
  • Functions as the single point of contact for this project and liaises with various internal and external stakeholders; conveys information and responds to queries, concerns, etc. with respect to project status, design, etc.
  • Liaises with City of Toronto Planning and Engineering departments, authorities having jurisdiction, Ministry of Long Term Care capital team, and West Park Senior Leadership Team in addressing their requirements.
  • Works closely with the Director of Campus Development and Construction Project Managers to coordinate and/or advise on potential design/planning issues affecting the hospital redevelopment project.
  • Provides frequent, clear and concise reports to Vice President, Campus Development & Support Services and other stakeholders as determined regarding ongoing issues, progress updates, challenges and opportunities.
  • Participates in and/or leads meetings throughout project cycle.

Qualifications:

  • University or College level degree in Architecture, Engineering, Building Technologist, or a related field.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training and experience will be considered
  • Degree in construction, architecture, engineering or similar is preferred.
  • Professional license (e.g. architectural, engineering) and/or project management professional certification is preferred.
  • 7 years recent experience
  • Recent capital project management/planning experience, preferably within the long term care sector
  • Strong knowledge of the Long Term Care capital planning process
  • Knowledge of Infection Control Practices for Construction
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Practices
  • Demonstrated comfort and experience in a dynamic fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment with changing priorities
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to foster effective working relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven team player with demonstrated customer service and problem solving approach
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Experience interpreting policies, regulations, legislation and standards, preferably as they apply to long term care development and capital construction
  • Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, Excel, Project)
