Our Prosthetic and Orthotic Service is a state of the art full-service manufacturing facility to improve the quality of life and independence of our amputation rehabilitation patients.

Job Summary: 

As a Psychotherapist involves assessing and treating patients with mental health challenges, conducting psychotherapy sessions, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to contribute to patients' overall well-being.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct individual and group therapy sessions with patients
  • Develop and implement an individual treatment plan, in consultation with the patient, the patients’ integrated care plan, psychologists and other members of the interdisciplinary team (where relevant) which focus on achieving optimal functioning outcome and improved mental health
  • Provide crisis intervention and support to patients in acute distress
  • Collaborate with patients, their significant others and interdisciplinary team to assess the patient’s needs in accordance with professional practice guidelines
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and Attend team meetings to support interprofessional collaboration
  • Participate in case conference meetings to discuss patient progress and treatment goals
  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment interventions
  • Stay current on research and best practices in psychotherapy
  • Maintains excellence in the provision of psychotherapy and psychotherapeutic interventions through ongoing professional development
  • Attend team meetings to support interprofessional collaboration
  • Adhere to the professional code of ethics, maintaining the standards of practice for the profession, as outlined by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario

    Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in Psychology, Counselling, Mental Health or other related health field;
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Registered Psychotherapist or Registered Psychotherapist Qualifying
    • In good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario
    • Comfortable with a variety of psychotherapy modalities
    • Experience providing psychotherapeutic assessments and structured psychotherapy treatment for individuals presenting with a wide range of mental health conditions
    • Clinical competence to provide structured psychotherapy in the areas of trauma, depression, anxiety, grief/loss, and addictions
    • Experience with supporting patients with disabilities and experience in providing group and individual psychotherapy required
    • Additional training and experience in other specific interventions preferred (e.g. DBT, ACT, Mindfulness)
    • Experience providing services via information and communication technology
    • Training/certification in crisis intervention an asset and strong computer literacy skills
    • Experience with case conferences an asset
    • Demonstrated ability to producing detailed, high quality assessment and treatment reports and clinical documentation
    • Able to communicate and work effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment
    • Willingness to collaborate with psychologists in clinical decisions
