Job Description - Compliance Systems Analyst

As a Compliance Systems Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity and compliance of our IT and critical infrastructure systems. You will be an integral part of a diverse and dynamic team, collaborating across various departments within the enterprise. Position Description

Oversee the development and management of information systems that support NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and other compliance programs.  Design IT solutions based on business requirements.  Assist IT personnel and business clients in the use of processes, information technology and application systems that support compliance programs.

Position-Related Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing operational standards and processes that meet the needs for business area compliance with NERC CIP, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and other compliance programs standards and requirements.
  • Assist in directing operational activities to ensure UniSource compliance with NERC CIP, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and other compliance programs standards requirements, WECC and other data requests and mitigation plans.
  • Coordinate SME activity from IS, EMS, Substations and Generation networks to meet the needs of the Regulatory Compliance, internal audit and external audit groups relative to NERC CIP, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and other compliance programs.
  • Transfer knowledge about the NERC CIP, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and other compliance programs standards and company processes to others to help build the company’s knowledge base and culture of compliance.
  • Designs information systems to support business processes.  Develops program specifications, data access, output reports, and input specifications or designs. 
  • Assures new or modified application systems are consistent with the operating requirements of existing interfaces to other systems. 
  • Performs feasibility evaluations, estimates system analysis and programming time, computer resources, and related costs.
  • Coordinates with clients to define business problems, develop system requirements and determine solutions, including evaluating alternatives to satisfy the requirements.
  • Provides suggestions to clients or management for the improvement of existing or proposed systems to enhance the functionality being delivered.
  • Assists clients with understanding the operations and capabilities of their information systems.
  • Utilizes project management techniques to develop project plans and track progress to optimize project resources.  Coordinates project priorities with team members and other team leads.
  • Participates in a team environment and performs assignments as requested by the group or team lead. Performs the project leader role for small to medium projects by assigning, directing and reviewing the work of team members.
  • Plans multiple project assignments and coordinates priorities with team leads and clients.
  • Continually increases understanding of utility business functions and processes.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by management.
  • Serves as a mentor to other personnel to enhance their capabilities. 
  • Efficiently utilizes Information Services standards, tools, equipment, and training.
  • Conforms to corporate procedures and Information Services guidelines.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge regarding current and future NERC CIP standards, requirements and other information related to NERC CIP compliance.  Maintain knowledge of other standards the company must comply with, such as Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other compliance programs.
  • This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Relevant equivalent education and experience will be considered.)

Minimum Qualifications

Compliance Systems Analyst

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in the Engineering, Information Services, Compliance or related fields.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related disciplines. Equivalent combination of education, certifications and experience may be considered in lieu of bachelor’s degree.

Senior Compliance Systems Analyst

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the Engineering, Information Services, Compliance or related fields.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related disciplines. Equivalent combination of education, certifications and experience may be considered in lieu of bachelor’s degree.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with devices used in the production, transmission and distribution of energy is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with and understanding of information systems used in a utility is preferred.
  • Regulatory experience, preferably with NERC, NERC CIP or Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of information technology, security, hardware and software, and demonstrated ability to keep abreast of new technologies. 
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, systems analysis, systems design, systems quality or systems operations
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to multitask effectively and to work with ambiguity.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • A high degree of human relation skills are required to develop and maintain positive relations with other areas of the company.  

Pay Rate: $72,000 - $126,000 depending on experience
