Job Summary:

The 2024 Laboratory Intern will complete Company onboarding activities and provide feedback to ensure our onboarding program is efficient and engaging. Interns will develop their laboratory skills and increase their knowledge of cGMP and FDA regulations while working in a world-class pharmaceutical laboratory.

On-Site Expectations:

  • 100% on-site position in Morrisville, NC.

Responsibilities:

  • The lab intern will complete all onboarding activities and provide feedback for process improvements.
  • The lab intern will be trained on proper laboratory techniques and documentation in a GMP environment. Techniques will depend on the group but may include pH, titrations, Karl Fischer, dissolution, assisting with HPLC.
  • The lab intern will be responsible for the maintenance of laboratory facilities, including organization of samples, disposal of laboratory waste, and 5s organizational activities.
  • Interns will be trained on laboratory safety, are expected to maintain safety standards, and report safety observations according to company policy.
  • Upon completion of the internship, incumbents will conduct individual presentations to Alcami leaders.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a 4-year college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology with a Chemistry Minor or Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills required.
  • Excellent detail orientation and organizational skills required.
  • Excellent problem-solving and basic trouble-shooting ability required.
  • Awareness or prior work experience in a GMP environment preferred.

What to Expect:

The Alcami Intern Program is a minimum of 10-week paid program. Alcami interns are provided hands-on work experience building upon knowledge and skills learned in the classroom. Interns work side-by-side industry leaders in a dynamic, fast-paced environment who are passionate about being part of a team developing life-saving drugs around the world. The program concludes with individual presentations to Alcami leaders.

Candidates who are invited to interview will be contacted by Alcami Global Talent Acquisition to schedule a phone interview with a member of the Global Talent Acquisition team. Candidates who are invited to progress in the interview process will be scheduled for an onsite face-to-face or a virtual, video interview with hiring managers. During the interview, you will be asked questions about your scientific and technical knowledge as well as behavioral-based questions.

The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee will be required to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment for specific job duties to be performed. Such personal protective equipment may include, but not limited to safety eyewear, various types of respirators/breathing apparatus, lab coats, full protective body coverings, various types of gloves, etc.
