The FMI Internship Program is offered to students currently registered in a degree program. It is a 10-12 week summer commitment, Full Time, 40 hours/week. Interns will gain a greater understanding of FMI through challenging project based work, Lunch & Learns with company executives, and the chance to connect with all employees by attending many other company-wide events. 

About The Job

The Intern, International Data Strategy supports and actively participates on a cross-functional team of product managers, data scientists, design researchers and commercial team members from FMI and Roche. The position contributes to team projects and initiatives that are responsible for FMI’s efforts to expand and effectively deliver its portfolio of diagnostics and data products across the globe. Additionally, the incumbent assists in developing the appropriate approach to collaborating with international partners.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside the data products team to identify pain points, use cases, stakeholder journeys, prototype development and product roadmap planning based on customer feedback.
  • Build a market research plan, conduct primary research and collect secondary research.
  • Synthesize market research to identify key trends and challenges in the marketplace related to compliance in ex-US regions.
  • Develop content that represents research findings in a succinct, easy to understand format.
  • In partnership with the international business team, support the communication and messaging of data services and products to international customers. 
  • Participate in conferences and other activities that augment FMI’s data product messaging in ex-US regions.
  • Other projects as assigned. 


Basic Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in an accredited graduate degree program pursuing an MBA.
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 2+ years of work experience in an analytical, problem-solving strategic function.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technology, science or healthcare-related discipline such as Computer Science or Data Science.
  • Prior working experience in the biopharmaceutical, medical device industry or a hospital or research center.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that include excellent skills in written and oral communication, collaboration, and problem solving.
  • Experience in project management of scientific software, particularly related to genomics and involving databases, dashboards, and/or automation frameworks.
  • Experience working with healthcare provider leaders and government representatives in Europe and/or Asia Pacific.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Structured Query Language (SQL), Python, and R.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and remain flexible with changing priorities.
  • Understanding of HIPAA and the importance of patient data privacy.
