Job Summary:

IFPRI seeks to hire a paid Research Intern for a three-month, renewable appointment in its Sudan Office. The successful candidates will work with the research staff in the analysis of agriculture, rural development, food and nutrition security and related policies and other research support activities related to IFPRl's work in Sudan. The incumbent will work under the overall guidance of the IFPRI Sudan Program Leader but will be contracted directly by IFPRl's organizational host in Sudan, the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD). This position is based in Khartoum, Sudan and interested applicants must have work authorization to work in Sudan. 

Internship objective

The objective of the internship program is to contribute to enhancing the capacity of domestic young researchers through exposure to the research team and engagement in research work, training, and engagement activities. 

Duration

The Internship duration is 3 months and can be extended to another 3 months based on the intern's performance.

Required Qualifications:

• Fresh graduates of BSc or MSc degrees who completed their studies no more than 6 months ago or enrolled MSc and PhD students. Proof of that must be presented. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic.
• Experience in research, data collection, and data analysis.
• Experience liaising with partners and coordinating high-profile events (desired).
• Understanding of, and interest in, Sudan’s agricultural sector (desired).
• Strong IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (desired).
• Desire to do research and learn about research techniques and research communication.

Duties and Responsibilities 

• Support the collection of primary and secondary data,
• Analyze data using advanced analytical methods,
• Conduct literature reviews and synthesis,
• Assist in drafting reports, policy notes and research papers,
• Assist during capacity building activities,
• Support coordinating projects and outreach activities,
• Contribute to the maintenance of IFPRI Program website, translation of documents and reports, and performing any related tasks to be assigned by the program leader and research team.
