Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, has been helping animals and people since 1873. Our organization cares for around 7500 animals each year and makes possible a variety of programs to address issues that contribute to the surrender of unwanted animals. As an open-admission organization, we accept every animal in need of help. The Behavior and Training Staff’s role is to support the activities and duties of the behavior department, including conducting training classes, performing behavioral evaluations and enrichment activities with shelter animals, and providing behavioral counseling to adopters and clients.
Essential Job Duties:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in biological or behavioral science with an emphasis in animal behavior, applied animal behavior or other animal behavior certifications preferred.
Experience: Animal handling experience required. Minimum of 1 year professional experience in animal training preferred. Certified pet dog trainer (CPDT) preferred. Animal shelter experience strongly preferred.
Physical Demands: Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, handle, see and lift. Occasionally required to sit and speak. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted.
