Overview
Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, has been helping animals and people since 1873. Our organization cares for around 7500 animals each year and makes possible a variety of programs to address issues that contribute to the surrender of unwanted animals. As an open-admission organization, we accept every animal in need of help. The Legacy and Gift Planning position is responsible for managing various components of Lollypop Farm’s planned and deferred giving program. This position will be a member of the Development team and work to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward current donors and prospects who have an interest in supporting Lollypop Farm both now and in perpetuity. The primary objective of this role is to help donors fulfill their passions and interests through their giving to Lollypop Farm.
Essential Job Duties:
Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Education: Bachelor’s degree including JD, CFP, CPA, or advanced degree in business, finance, or related field is strongly preferred
Experience: Five or more years of increasingly successful experience in fundraising or related positions such as financial planning, estate planning, banking, or wealth management preferred. Experience in building strong donor/customer relationships and proven ability to solicit and close preferred.
Skills: Must have a high level of interpersonal skills, both in-person and by phone, to handle sensitive and confidential situations with varied internal and external constituencies. Must possess requisite mathematical skills to be able to explain planned gifts to donors. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands while achieving work goals. Proficient in using the most recent versions of computer software applications including word processing, spreadsheets, database management (Raisers Edge preferred), and presentation software. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment with a professional demeanor, self-reliance, and resourcefulness. Demonstrated ability in written communications, especially acknowledgment letters and proposal writing.
Physical Demands: Performs work primarily in an office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, feel, speak, hear and see. Performance may also require prolonged periods of sitting and repetitive motion and occasional lifting with reasonable accommodations.
