Salary Range

$29.71- $42.36 / hour 

 The Fabrication Technician position is considered safety sensitive work and if a job offer is accepted the applicant will be required to complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing which will include cannabis testing.

Summary

Responsible for the fabrication of pipe, structural steel, and equipment

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following examples of duties and responsibilities illustrate the general range of tasks assigned to the position but are not intended to define the limits of required duties.  Other essential duties may be assigned consistent with the general scope of the position.

  • Assist in or perform pipe, structural steel, and equipment fabrication
  • Perform mathematical calculations and prepare sketches and drawings/piping isometrics
  • Perform record keeping practices including material certification documents, fabrication travelers, and test documentation
  • Assist in job planning which includes estimating time and crafts required along with identifying and requisitioning the required materials
  • Participate in design reviews and the management of change (MOC) process
  • Provide training to other individuals in the workgroup
  • Learn and follow plant procedures and safety regulations
  • Serve as an “on-call” technician during off-hours, weekends, and holidays as part of the call-out rotation to perform limited troubleshooting and repair of mechanical equipment
  • Assist other maintenance groups in their daily responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor

 

Qualifications

Incumbents must have demonstrated knowledge and abilities in these areas.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

Education and/or Experience

  • Requires a minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) to three (3) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Associates Degree preferred
  • Must be able to certify and maintain forklift and additional mobile equipment certification as required

Computer Skills

  • Basic computer skills including functionality in the Microsoft Office suite of applications

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to perform and satisfactorily complete a 6G carbon steel weld test of X-Ray quality
  • Ability to pass weld certifications on SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, and GMAW within one year
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Assist in job planning which includes estimating time and crafts required along with identifying and requisitioning the required materials after six months of employment
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume and apply concepts of algebra and geometry
  • Ability to speak effectively in one-on-one or small groups
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence effectively
  • Must be a team player and supportive and cooperative of management and corporate initiatives
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

  • The employee must have a sense of sound, smell, and touch
  • The employee must have the ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including standard issued PPE and respiratory devices
