Bessemer Trust is seeking a talented Credit Analyst to join the Municipal Bonds group.  The primary focus of this role will be the enhancement of the technological capabilities of the credit research team as well as ongoing surveillance of municipal bond holdings across the platform.  The analyst will also work closely with the trading desk to identify value in the sector(s) covered and will be expected to coordinate sales of potentially deteriorating credits. In addition, the analyst will assume a generalist role on the team, covering the selection of bonds across multiple sectors and providing sound quantitative and qualitative credit analysis in a timely manner to meet market-driven deadlines.  The group invests exclusively in investment grade municipal securities.

Job Description:

  • Develop technological process enhancements via data analysis, spreadsheet and database management, etc.
  • Perform ongoing surveillance of all platform holdings in the coverage universe.
  • Keep abreast of industry, economic, regulatory and rating-agency events that could have an impact on Bessemer municipal bond holdings.
  • Work with municipal portfolio managers to identify relative value based on historical trading relationships as well as economic, demographic, or governmental trends.
  • Provide timely decisions in a fast-paced, market-driven environment.
  • Participate in special projects as required, including the preparation of internal and external credit publications.
  • As required, provide credit and structure evaluation of new issues and secondary offerings and present findings to the portfolio management team.  Purchase and sale recommendations to encompass both qualitative and quantitative factors.

Qualifications:

  • 3 – 5 years experience as a municipal bond credit analyst.  Credit rating agency or bond insurer experience is a plus, as is prior experience with the municipal healthcare sector.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present a recommendation and rationale in a succinct manner.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit a plus; willingness to explore and execute upon technological enhancements to improve efficiencies.
  • Excellent quantitative skills including demonstrable expertise with Bloomberg, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.  SQL experience is a plus.

The base salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $115,000.00. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skills, experience, and qualification for the role. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range.

In addition, this position may be eligible for a discretionary incentive based on individual and company performance.

Securities licenses will not generally be obtained or maintained unless deemed by Bessemer Trust to be required in order for you to perform the responsibilities of this position.
